Galicia, the Canary Islands and Catalonia will copy the Pescaturismo model in the Balearic Islands
Galicia, the Canary Islands and Catalonia want to extrapolate the tourist fishing model that prevails in the Balearic Islands and in which the Mallorcan startup Pescaturismo is the main reference. The high levels of satisfaction obtained by this company in the last two years in the fishing guilds and in the issuing markets "have made us a national and European point of reference," says the CEO of Pescaturismo, Pepe Martínez.
Mallorcans are increasingly joining a tourist activity in which ten fishermen from Mallorca show their work through the Fishingtrip web platform.
Several European regions are interested in the Majorcan model of tourist fishing
A group of tourism managers from different European regions - Tuscany (Italy), Latvia, East Flanders (Belgium), South Limburg (Holland) and Crete (Greece) - traveled yesterday to Port of Sóller to see firsthand the activity of tourist fishing that has been managed for several years by the Pescaturismo company and supported by the Balearic Tourism Agency and which represents an interesting complement to the income of fifteen artisanal fishermen in Mallorca.
Fishermen for a day
Pescaturismo is a company that facilitates contact between men of the sea and tourists who want to learn about the profession.
